The
Tarrytown neighborhood is one of the most sought after communities in all of
Austin. The neighborhood is bounded by Lake Austin Boulevard to the south,
Lake Austin to the west, West 35th Street to the north and Mopac Expressway to the east.
Tarrytown offers residents meticulously maintained houses, mature shade trees, quiet views of the
Hill Country, and some of the best locally owned restaurants Austin has to offer, all while being less than a ten minute ride to
downtown Austin.
Although the neighborhood is located within the very heart of Austin, you wouldn't be able to tell due to the numerous parks and recreational areas within the community. To the west lies Mayfield Park, a beloved Austin institution that features a nature preserve, lilly ponds, tame deer, and peacocks. Next door sits Laguna Gloria, an early Twentieth century art-deco mansion that is now part of the Austin Museum of Art where Austinites can enjoy classes and exhibits. Both Mayfield Park and Laguna Gloria are staples in the community and are some of what makes Austin the city so many people love to call home. Next door, residents can enjoy Westover Country Club, one of the oldest country clubs in Central Texas and another staple in the community.
In the heart of Tarrytown lies Reed Park, where residents can swim, bike, hike, picnic, and play golf on the Lions Municipal, one of the oldest and most celebrated municipal golf courses in all of Austin. Tarrytown is full of quiet, pristine parks and local hangouts that provide residents a quiet oasis in the heart of a major metropolitan center.
Tarrytown is served by the Austin Independent School District where students attend Casis Elementary, O. Henry Middle School, and Stephen F. Austin High School.
