The community first began in 1982 and has experienced many cycles of growth since then; most of the neighborhood has been built out since the late 1990's. Rob Roy offers estate-sized homes, many of which sit on at least an acre of land. The architecture is diverse throughout the neighborhood and ranges from sleek and modern, to classic ranch-style homes. Regardless of each home's aesthetic, almost all Rob Roy homes are made from native stones which only makes the Hill Country landscape seem even more pristine and untouched.
Rob Roy is located just fifteen minutes away from downtown Austin and twenty minutes away from Lake Travis. The neighborhood is within easy access to many excellent shopping centers including Barton Creek Square Mall, Village at West Lake Shopping Center, and the Hill Country Galleria, as well as many top-notch restaurants.
The community has plenty to offer even the most experienced nature lover. Emma Long Park, Zilker Park, Barton Creek Greenbelt, and Barton Creek Wilderness Park are all just a short car ride away. The Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve, which covers two-hundred and twenty-seven acres of pristine Hill Country, offers over two-and-a-half miles of hike-and-bike trails that pass through grasslands, woodlands, and streamside habitats.
Rob Roy is serviced by the esteemed Eanes Independent School District where students attend Bridge Point Elementary, Hill Country Middle School, and West Lake High School.
