Milwood is home to over six-hundred households and feature homes with an average size of 1,600 square feet. Although modestly sized, Milwood homes are meticulously maintained; manicured lawns and well-kept roads are staples of any Milwood street. The area is the last of it's kind where Austin families can live within Travis county lines and still purchase beautiful homes with a reasonable, family-friendy price-tag.
Milwood is well-known for it's green landscape and mature trees that line the streets and provide much-needed shade in Texas summers. The neighborhood is home to Balcones District Park which offers multiple amenities. The park is home to a wildflower preserve, basketball courts, hike-and-bike trails, a playscape, and Balcones Pool, a local favorite during the hot summer months. Milwood is also conveniently located to many of Austin's best shopping centers. Gateway Market, The Domain, and Arboretum are all within a ten minute car ride of the neighborhood as are some of the highest quality restaurants and movie theaters that Austin has to offer.
The Milwood Neighborhood Association is active within the community and prides itself on not being any typical HOA. The MNA organizes many neighborhood-wide activities such as the Fourth of July parade and picnic and annual neighborhood garage sales, just to name a few. The organization also strives to make Milwood the safest community in Austin and partners with the neighborhood crime watch to ensure that Milwood families feel safe in their community.
Milwood is also home to the Milwood Austin Public Library which serves as a staple in the community where neighbors can enjoy all the resources an Austin Public Library has to offer as well as a free meeting place to discuss many of the issues that affect Milwood residence and the city as a whole.
Milwood is serviced by the esteemed Austin Independent School District where students attend Summit Elementary, Murchison Middle School, and Anderson High School.
