Clarksville was founded in the 1870's by newly freed slaves on land previously owned by Texas Governor Elisha Pease. The developed land and plantation was eventually incorporated into the city and because of this rich history, the neighborhood has been maintained and preserved.
Clarksville is far from suburbia and is within walkable distance to all that downtown Austin has to offer while still maintaining a quiet, village-like feel.
